This year marks the 15th anniversary of the New Round of Healthcare Reforms.The Central Government of China just announced series of policy decisions on carrying out comprehensive reforms to help with the process of Modernization with Chi-nese characteristics,including initiatives of deepening healthcare reforms,which shall be implemented between 2024 and 2029.Im-proving health system performance via reforms,a worldwide issue,China needs innovation in theories,practice and systems,for developing effective solutions to address special problems within China's socioeconomic context.This article first clarifies important concepts and analytical framework pertaining to healthcare reform research studies.Then,we discuss evolution of the Chinese health system since founding of the PRC.We conclude with an exploration into relevant policy recommendations for better dealing with some of the major contemporary issues underpinning China's healthcare reforms.
