Objective To explore the application value of risk of paradoxical embolism(RoPE)score combined with contrast-transthoracic echocardiography(c-TTE)in patients with cryptogenic stroke(CS).Methods 151 patients who were diagnosed as CS and examined by c-TTE were admitted to the department of neurology in the second affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical Uni-versity.According to the results of c-TTE,the patients were divided into two groups,i.e.,positive group and negative group. The general information and imaging characteristics were compared between the two groups.RoPE score was used to evaluate c-TTE positive patients.Right-to-left shunt(RLS)was diagnosed by c-TTE with and without standardized valsalva maneuver. The correla-tion between RoPE score and RLS severity was evaluated. Results In the c-TTE positive and negative groups,CS patients showed significant differences in terms of age,the morbidity of diabetes, history of stroke, and the RoPE score(P<0.05.There was a significantly positive correlation between RoPE score and RLS severity in c-TTE positive patients(r=0.383,P<0.01).Conclusion RoPE score combined with c-TTE can be used in etiology screening of cryptogenic stroke.
