Oracle bone inscriptions(OBI)preserve the earliest known medical information,which has obtained attention from paleographers,historians,and scholars of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),resulting in a wealth of research achievements.Current studies on the medical data of OBI primarily focus on the quantity of medical records,names of diseases,causes of diseases,diagnostic and therapeutic methods,etc.However,previous studies have encountered challenges such as inaccurate character interpretations,lagging perspectives,inaccurate understanding of OBI texts and excessive interpretations.These issues should be addressed by the academic community.Research on medical information in oracle bone inscriptions should prioritize accurate character recognition.This interdisciplinary field involves collaboration between paleography and TCM,facilitating in-depth research on medical information in oracle bone inscriptions.
