Based on CiteSpace visualization analysis tool,using"physician-patient relationship"as the keyword,we analyzed the research topics and progress of physician-patient relationship from the perspective of communication studies in recent years.It is found that there had been a shift in research on physician-patient relationships from"media"to"individuals"perspective.The"media-centered"perspective focused on media presentation and media publicity of physician-patient relationships,while the"individual-centered"perspective emphasized media use and physician-patient trust building,the relationship between media and patient health intention behavior,and the analysis of new physician-patient communication models.Additionally,to explore the research path and enhance the physician-patient relationship in Chinese society,it was proposed that the study in future should focus more on institutional and cultural contexts,move beyond positivist paradigm and avoid a singular"physician-patient"binary perspective,and promote the balanced and systematic development of physician-patient relationship research.
