Analysis of Retraction Cases in Medical Papers and Strategies for Preventing Academic Misconduct
From 2012 to 2021,a total of 802 medical papers were retracted from the Retraction Watch database.China had the highest proportion of retracted papers,accounting for 38.15%.Infectious diseases studies accounted for the highest retraction number at 20.32%,often associated with public health emergencies.Academic misconduct was involved in 53.40%of the retracted papers,with unreliable information accounting for 687 instances,fabrication or falsification for 175 instances,plagiarism for 264 instances,misconduct for 517 instances,and violation of ethics for 40 instances.To combat academic misconduct in medical research and uphold scientific integrity,it is necessary to standardize and supervise every aspect,improve the evaluation system,establish a sound academic misconduct accountability system,accelerate the improvement of the scientific and technological evaluation system,formulate and refine relevant laws and regulations,and establish multi-technology prevention mechanisms.
