The Exploration of Animal-assisted Intervention in Children with Developmental Disorders:A Case Study of Donkey-assisted Intervention for Children with Autism
Through an in-depth analysis of a case study involving a boy with autism receiving donkey-assisted intervention at a therapeutic farm,this article reveals the potential benefits of donkey-assisted therapy in enhancing children's interaction with their environment,communication skills,and self-confidence.By engaging in controlled interactions with the donkey,the child can stimulate thinking,enhance attention,and improve focus.Moreover,the positive acceptance by the donkeys plays a significant role in boosting the child's self-esteem and confidence,thereby increasing their engagement and therapeutic outcomes.The article also discusses the key elements of donkey-assisted therapy,providing a practical reference for the introduction of this non-traditional therapy in the treatment of child autism in China.At the same time,it also offers a new perspective on the application of animal-assisted intervention in the treatment of developmental disorders in children.
