Analysis of Philosophical Paradoxes in the Definition of Pain Medicine
The paradox of pain is one of the research focuses of contemporary Anglo-American analytic philosophy concerning the issue of pain. This paradox alleges that the physical and psychological characteristics of pain constitute an intrinsic inconsistency of the concept of pain.By analyzing the medical definition of pain,it becomes evident that this paradox is not only a philosophical issue, but also exists in the medical understanding of pain. The IASP classic definition of pain contains the philosophical paradox of pain, and the revised version in 2020 did not resolve it.Medical definitions are important guidelines for clinical practice.A reasonable medical definition of pain requires examining and resolving potential paradoxes in order to develop a logically consistent understanding and cognition of the nature of pain.
