Experience and Diagnosis:Temporal Phenomenological Analysis of Disease
There is a significant difference between subjective time and objective time. The patient's immediate experience is in the sense of the continuous flow of subjective time, while physicians categorize patient's discomfort experiences based on measurement of objective time.Patient's discomfort experience is concrete, while doctor's diagnosis and treatment plan are abstract. The former is based on subjective time, while the latter is rooted in objective time. The different understandings of time between doctors and patients not only provide different perspectives for the former to explore the philosophical aspects of disease temporality, but also create obstacles for effective communication between doctors and patients to a certain extent.Based on this, the temporal phenomenological analysis of disease contributes to the improvement of patient-centered view of diagnosis and treatment.
