An Exploration of the Multiple Implications of"Learning from Patients"
"Learning from patients"as an attitude and behavioral orientation should be recognized and emulated by as many doctors as possible. This paper explores its implications from three dimensions.First of all,it defines"learning"and elucidates the objectivity of"learning from patients",revealing its significance to the construction of doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of relation philosophy.Secondly, based on the institutionalized doctor-patient interaction, this paper expounds the significance of"learning from patients"for doctors'self-definition,self-reflection,and becoming better doctors. Finally,it highlights the significance of"approaching patients"as the beginning of gaining"knowledge by acquaintance",and emphasizes the process of"learning from the patients"from a human perspective in contrast to object-oriented approaches,in which experiences are gained through interactions with each unique patient.
