ZhuXi of Kaoting School and Medical Literature in Northern Fujian
ZhuXi,as a prominent figure in Neo-Confucianism and the architect of its system,exerted a significant influence on later generations of medical practitioners.Having lived in northern Fujian for an extended period,his impact on medical practitioners in this region was profound.The connotation of ZhuXi's Neo-Confucianism and personal beliefs spurred the writing and discourse of medical literature in northern Fujian.Specifically,his emphasis on seeking the principles of things influenced medical literature in this region to focus on discussions of medical principles,while his theories on the mind-nature and desires,and his views on filial piety and benevolence,influenced the thoughts on abstinence and health preservation among medical practitioners in northern Fujian and the reasons for writing medical texts.Additionally,ZhuXi's method of empirical investigation for acquiring knowledge and his original outline-based compilation approach also shaped the way medical literature was compiled by medical practitioners in northern Fujian.The establishment of Neo-Confucianism system also promoted the resurgence of the theory of Five Elements and Six Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine,and ZhuXi's concept of universal education also profoundly affected the creative endeavors of medical practitioners in northern Fujian.
