The newly revised version of the Declaration of Geneva includes a new item of the physicians'self-care.In comparison to the traditional emphasis on caring for others, the theory of caring for self, though seemingly abrupt, has its roots.According to Foucault,self-care is a form of technique, regarding both self and others, thus embodying both individual and social ethics, which illustrates the ethical rationality of physicians'self-care practice,by starting from the practice of which, physicians realize self-identity,reconstruct doctor-patient relationships, and build a community of health for all.Accordingly, this essay proposes that physicians can initiate ethical practices of self-care through both inner cultivation and external actions.Only by achieving a harmonious and complete self can they then care for others and society, thereby promoting the construction of community of health for all.
