Analysis of Implementing a Physician Licensing Management System on Doctor-patient Disputes
Using SPSSAU(an online SPSS analysis software),this study analyzes data from 685 doctor-patient disputes where the responsible party was the doctor, collected from a tertiary-A general hospital before and after the implementation of a physician licensing management system, and provides reference of dispute management in hospitals. The research has found that after the implementation of the physician licensing management system, the incidence of doctor-patient disputes and the proportion of disputes involving doctors as the responsible parties have all decreased significantly.Furthermore, the proportion of disputes caused by various reasons(excluding patient factors)has decreased significantly. The proportion of disputes handled through higher-level referrals and online channels,as well as those resolved through mediation and litigation, and the proportion of compensation-related disputes, all showed significant decreases. Therefore,it is evident that implementing a physician licensing management system can effectively reduce the occurrence of doctor-patient disputes, and promote their stable,low-cost,and efficient resolution.
