The phenomenon of"data gaze"prevalent in the digital-intelligence era can be seen as an extension and evolution of Foucault's concept of the"gaze".On one hand,data gaze inherits Foucault's medical gaze,functioning as a knowledge paradigm centered on quantification,which forces the homogenization of human existence.On the other hand,data gaze extends the scope of Foucault's gaze,replacing physical surveillance space with boundless digital space and enabling precise exercise of power through data management.In epistemology,data gaze reshapes human perception,deepens cognitive biases.In ontology,data gaze transforms human existence into a data-driven form and essentially reduces humans to symbols that are easily controlled and manipulated within data structures.
