Research on the Relationship between the Japanese Medical Community and Japanese Ministry of Defense Unit 731
During the Japanese War of Aggression against China,Japanese Ministry of Defense Unit 731 violated international law by secretly developing and producing bacteriological weapons, and conducting bacteriological warfare.Throughout the entire process of preparing and implementing these biological warfare activities, the Japanese medical community played an important role.Archival records revealed that institutions such as the Army Medical School of Japan,Kyoto University, and the University of Tokyo provided professional medical personnel to support Unit 731 in the development and implementation of bacteriological weapons. After the war, instead of reflecting on their involvement, the Japanese medical community sheltered former military doctors from Unit 731,allowing them to be active in the Japanese medical community. These individuals leveraged wartime-acquired medical data, techniques, and research findings to gain academic status, political influence, and wealth.
