Objective To evaluate the impact of contrast-enhancement boost(CE-boost)technique on the visualization and image quality of the Adamkiewicz artery(AKA)on CT.Methods Routine enhanced chest and abdominal CT of 109 patients was retrospectively analyzed. The unenhanced and arterial phase images were processed using the CE-boost technique. The visualization rates and visualization effect scores of the AKA on arterial phase images(group A)and CE-boost images(group B)were subjectively analyzed. Objective evaluation of image quality was performed by measuring the descending aorta CT value and standard deviation(SD),calculating the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)and contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR).Results The descending aorta CT value,SNR and CNR were significantly(P<0.05)higher in group B than in group A.The image noise SD value in group B was significantly(P<0.05)lower than that in group A.AKA visualization rate in in group B(88.9%,97/109)was significantly higher(x2=36.54,P<0.05)than that in group A(75.2%,82/109).The median subjective score of group B(3)was significantly higher(Z=-7.12,P<0.05)than that of group A(2).Conclusion CE-boost technique can improve the visualization and image quality of the AKA in contrast-enhanced CT.
