Objective To study the correlation patterns between personality traits and psychological symptoms of recruits new during training,and explore the overall protective or risk effects of different personality traits on psychological symptoms.Methods The EPQ-RSC and SCL-90 were used to evaluate the personality traits and psychological symptoms of 242 new recruits in a unit,and SPSS software was used for descriptive statistical analysis and R software for network structure estimation and bridge centrality analysis.Results Different personality traits had different correlation patterns with psychological symptoms.Both introversion and extroversion and concealment were negatively correlated with psychological symptoms,while neuroticism and psychoticism were positively correlated with psychological symptoms.The bridge expected influence of neuroticism(0.60)was the highest one.Conclusion Among personality traits,neuroticism positively links to a wider range of psychological symptoms,suggesting a higher risk for psychological symptoms.The study on the relations between personality traits and psychological symptoms of new recruits from the perspective of network may contribute to soldier's psychological selection and mental health maintenance in the future.
