Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of viral hepatitis C in Wuwei City from 2011 to 2020,so as to provide a basis for the prevention and control of viral hepatitis C in Wuwei City. Methods Descriptive epidemiological research methods were used to analyze the reported incidence data of viral hepatitis C in Wuwei City from 2011 to 2020.The reported incidence of viral hepatitis C and the proportion of reported incidence in different populations, regions and time periods were calculated.Chi-square test was used to compare the reported incidence of viral hepatitis C in different population characteristics and regions. Results There were 18 318 reported cases of viral hepatitis C in Wuwei City from 2011 to 2020,with an average annual incidence of 100.92/100 000.The highest incidence was reported in 2013(126.06/100 000)and the lowest in 2020(63.47/100 000).Cases were reported in every month of the decade, and there was no obvious seasonal distribution. The age distribution of reported cases was dominated by middle-aged and elderly people aged 40-69 years, accounting for 65.60%.The number and incidence of females were higher than those of males. The occupational distribution was dominated by farmers, accounting for 69.35%of the total affected population.Liangzhou District reported 16 631 cases, with an average incidence of 164.62/100 000.The number of reported cases and the incidence in Liangzhou District were higher than those in other three counties.Gulang County,Minqin County, and Tianzhu County followed, with 642 cases(average incidence 16.52/100 000),546 cases(average incidence 22.63/100 000),and 499 cases(average incidence 28.55/100 000).There was a statistically significant difference in the reported incidence of viral hepatitis C in one district and three counties of Wuwei City in the past ten years(x2=918.03,P<0.001).Conclusion From 2011 to 2020,the incidence of viral hepatitis C in Wuwei City shows a significant trend of first increasing and then decreasing, with regional and population differences.Monitoring and health education should be strengthened in key areas and populations, and corresponding measures should be formulated to effectively prevent viral hepatitis C.
