Excessive daytime sleepiness(EDS)is common in adults,characterized by significant harm,diverse etiologies,and high heterogeneity in treatment responses,which often results in poor outcomes with single treatment modalities.Transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)can alter neural excitability and is a potential therapeutic approach for improving EDS.Therefore,this paper reviews the mechanisms of action of tDCS,the clinical application and safety of tDCS in EDS patients,and provides clinical insights for the intervention of EDS with tDCS.
