The prevalence of hyperuricemia(HUA)has been rising year by year, which has become the second largest metabolic disease threatening human health, and is known as the"four highs"together with hypertension, hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia.Studies have found that the occurrence and development of HUA are related to gender, environment, genetics and other factors, among which uric acid metabolism is closely related to the renal uric acid transport system and intestinal flora. Both drug and non-drug treatment strategies focus on reducing uric acid sources and increasing uric acid excretion. Therefore, this paper will review the latest research advances in HUA from epidemiology, etiology, metabolic pathways, and treatment strategies, which not only helps to clarify the pathogenesis of HUA,but also provides a theoretical basis for further research and development of uric acid lowering strategies,in order to serve as a reference for subsequent in-depth studies.
