Pruritus is an unpleasant sensation and emotional experience that elicits a desire to scratch.It is often accompanied by scratching behavior.Chronic itch is a pathological characteristic that can cause anxiety,depression,and other emotional disorders and then emotional disorders will further exacerbate itch.Chronic itch seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients.However,at present,there is lack of effective clinical treatments for most of the itching.This paper reviews the research progress and behavioral detection methods of acute itch and different types of chronic itch animal models in recent years,so as to provide research tools for in-depth study of mechanisms of itch.
