Discuss on traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of retinal artery occlusion based on intestinal flora
Retinal artery occlusion is an ophthalmic emergency that is often treated with thrombolysis in clinical practice. However, thrombolysis requires a high time window, and due to reasons such as delayed disease detection,it is easy to miss the time window. In recent years, studies have found that the structure and quantity of gut microbiota in patients with retinal artery occlusion are disrupted. At the same time,in other ophthalmic diseases,it has been found that gut microbiota may mediate the occurrence of diseases.Intestinal flora is also a risk factor for retinal artery occlusion, which is associated with atherosclerosis, hypertension, etc. In terms of physiological structure, ocular blood vessels are considered as branches of cerebral blood vessels in the eye,and the central retinal artery is a branch of the ophthalmic artery. Therefore, retinal artery occlusion is also considered a manifestation of stroke in the eye.In the pathogenesis of stroke,it is now believed that the role of gut microbiota cannot be ignored. In recent years, there have been treatments for stroke that focus on gut microbiota. The author believes that the treatment of retinal artery occlusion can be approached by regulating the gut microbiota. The relationship between traditional Chinese medicine and gut microbiota has made significant progress in recent years, and traditional Chinese medicine has a positive effect on regulating gut microbiota. Therefore, when treating retinal artery occlusion, traditional Chinese medicine that is beneficial for regulating gut microbiota can be applied to regulate gut microbiota, thereby treating retinal artery occlusion.
