Effect of free position and supine position on labor progress and delivery outcome
Objective To compare the effect of free position and supine position on labor progress and delivery outcome. Methods A total of 100 parturients were selected from the Third People's Hospital of Bengbu,Anhui Province from July 2019 to July 2022 were selected. They were divided into supine position group and free position group according to random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. In supine position group, the first stage of labor was supine, until the uterine orifice was fully opened;and the second stage of labor was lithotomy of bladder. In free position group, the first and second stages of labor were selected by the parturients according to their own comfort and preferences. The first, second, and third stage of labor,2 h postpartum blood loss were compared between two groups;labor pain was evaluated by McGill pain questionnaire, including pain rating index(PRI),present pain intensity(PPI),visual analogue scale(VAS);the labor outcome was compared. Results The first, second, and third stages of labor in the free position group were shorter than those in the supine position group, the 2 h postpartum blood loss was less than that in the supine position group(P<0.05).The scores of PRI,PPI,and VAS in the free position group were lower than those in the supine position group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in labor stagnation, neonatal asphyxia, and postpartum hemorrhage between the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of uterine weakness and soft birth canal laceration in the free position group were lower than those in the supine position group(P<0.05).Conclusion Free position delivery is beneficial to shorten maternal labor, reduce labor pain, and improve labor outcome.
