Research progress of potential application of hydroxychloroquine in prevention and treatment of preeclampsia
Hydroxychloroquine has anti-inflammatory,immunomodulatory,antithrombotic,antioxidant,and other pharmacological effects.Studies have proved that hydroxychloroquine has many benefits for pregnant women with systemic lupus erythematosus, which can improve pregnancy outcomes and reduce the incidence of preeclampsia.Preeclampsia is a complex idiopathic disease of pregnancy, which has serious harm to the perinatal mother and child. The pathogenesis is still unclear, but it is believed that the occurrence and development of preeclampsia are closely related to systemic inflammatory response, oxidative stress, and endothelial dysfunction. Therefore, considering the various pharmacological effects of hydroxychloroquine, this article reviews four aspects of hydroxychloroquine:anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,improvement of endothelial function and inhibition of autophagy, and discusses the relevant mechanisms of hydroxy-chloroquine's possible role in the prevention and treatment of preeclampsia.
