Tang Zonghai's thought of Chinese and western medicine integration on Bencao Wenda
Bencao Wenda is a herbal monograph written by Tang Zonghai,a famous physician in late Qing dynasty.The book reflects the Tang Zonghai's academic color of Chinese and western medicine integration.This paper focous on the author's life and book background and analyzes the characteristics of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine in Bencao Wenda,thinking that the book is based on yin and yang,five elements and qi and blood theory,attaches great importance to the natural properties of medicines.At the same time,the book references western natural science knowledge like physics,chymistry,meteorology,and western medicine,to supplement the view of traditional Chinese medicine.This paper discusses Tang Zonghai's thought of Chinese and western medicine integration from two aspects of"basing on China"and"participating west"and it is concluded that the Bencao Wenda is a work which mainly discusses traditional Chinese medicine and combines the western view,and tries to prove the correctness of traditional Chinese medicine pharmacological view by reference or comparison,and tries to prove the correctness of the viewpoint of traditional Chinese medicine through reference or comparison,which is also the basic composition of the academic thought of traditional Chinese and western medicine integration school,has reference significance for the development of it.
