Investigation on the status quo and influencing factors of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with esophageal cancer after operation
Objective To explore the fear of cancer recurrence in patients with esophageal cancer after operation, and to analyze the main risk factors of recurrence fear. Methods A total of 110 patients with esophageal cancer who underwent surgery in the Department of Oncology of Huaian First People's Medical College Hospital,Jiangsu Province from May 2019 to May 2022 were selected by convenience sampling method. The fear of cancer recurrence was investigated by fear of progression questionnaire-short form(FoP-Q-SF),and the main risk factors of recurrence fear were analyzed by multiple stepwise linear regression. Results The FoP-Q-SF scores of 110 patients ranged from 15 to 50 points.Among them, five cases had no obvious fear of cancer recurrence.Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in education level, marital status, employment status, monthly family income,TNM stage, number of cancer lesions, coping style, hospital anxiety, and depression scale(HADS)score, social support rating scale(SSRS)score, and surgical method between the two groups(P<0.05).Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed that negative coping style,HADS score range of 11 to 21 points,SSRS score<20 points were the main risk factors for recurrent psychological fear(P<0.05).Conclusion Coping style, negative psychology, and social support are important risk factors of cancer recurrence fear in patients with esophageal cancer after surgery.Clinical nursing should pay attention to these indicators and take preventive nursing measures to alleviate cancer recurrence fear.
