Research progress in the regulation of tooth enamel and periodontal tissue structure development by RUNX2
In the secretory and mature stages of tooth enamel, ameloblasts are susceptible to interference from various factors, resulting in different degrees of tooth enamel hypoplasia.Runt-related transcription factor 2(RUNX2)has an important effect on the maturation and mineralization of tooth enamel by regulating enamel protein gene transcription, and affecting enamel matrix protein degradation. This article reviews the role of RUNX2 in regulating the maturation and mineralization of tooth enamel, and proposes the potential destruction of RUNX2 gene defect on periodontal tissue, providing direction for future research and prevention and treatment of enamel dysplasia diseases.
