Progress and advantages of modern mechanism research on the treatment of adolescent polycystic ovary syndrome with traditional Chinese medicine
Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)is a disease closely associated with endocrine abnormalities and reproductive dysfunction,it is characterized by hyperandrogen, persistent anovulation,or insulin resistance.According to the epidemiological reports in recent years, the incidence of PCOS in adolescence has been progressively rising, and the age of onset is gradually advancing, which has caused a lot of problems to many adolescent females. In addition to obesity, hirsutism, acne, amenorrhea, and other common symptoms,it may also produce low self-esteem,anxiety,and other psychological disorders, which should be actively intervened clinically.Traditional medicine recognizes the prevalence of PCOS focusing on internal organs and considers the disease mechanism to be kidney deficiency with spleen deficiency and liver depression;modern medicine's understanding has progressed to a signaling pathway-targeted cellular process, mainly involving multiple signaling pathways such as Wnt/β-catenin,PI3K/Akt/mTOR,and so on.At the present time, there is no unified standard diagnosis and treatment plan for adolescent PCOS.Besides the commonly used western medicine,Chinese medicine and its traditional treatment techniques can be used for active and timely intervention. This article reviews the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of adolescent PCOS and the progress of modern mechanism research,in order to provide multiple therapeutic pathway for this disease.
