Investigation and analysis of position competency of surgery residents after resident standardized training
Objective To understand the position competency of surgical residents after standardized training and provide reference for improving the quality of surgical residency training and optimizing the training system. Methods A cluster sampling method was used to survey 552 surgical residents who participated in the 2022 graduation assessment of residency training in Beijing,as well as 348 senior physicians from surgical residency training institutions. The survey consisted of a general information questionnaire and a position competence assessment questionnaire. Results The scores of surgical residents were significantly higher than those of senior physicians in terms of position competence, clinical skills and medical service abilities, medical knowledge and lifelong learning abilities, interpersonal communication abilities, teamwork abilities, scientific research abilities, and core values and professional ethics abilities(P<0.05).Scientific research abilities and information and management abilities ranked last among the various dimensions. There were significant differences in pos-ition competence and scores of various dimensions among different genders, identities, educational backgrounds, and different training years(P<0.05).Conclusion The position competence of surgical residents is relatively weak in terms of scientific research abilities and information and management abilities, which should be given more attention in future training.Meanwhile,in the training process, the training system for position competence should be further deepened based on the characteristics of different individuals.
