Study on the correlation between postpartum depression and parenting sense of competence in elderly primipara
Objective To explore the correlation between postpartum depression and parenting sense of competence in elderly primipara.Methods A total of 800 elderly primiparas were selected from Rugao People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province from January 2016 to December 2021 by simple random sampling method.The baseline data,postpartum depression,and parenting sense of competence were investigated by self-made maternal basic information questionnaire,Chinese version of the postpartum depression screening scale(C-PDSS),and Chinese version of parenting sense of competence scale(C-PSOC).According to the score of C-PDSS of elderly primiparas,they were divided into depression group(C-PDSS score≥76 points)and non-depression group(C-PDSS score<76 points).The scores of C-PSOC of two groups were compared;and the correlation between postpartum depression and parenting sense of competence in elderly primipara was analyzed.Results In this study,800 questionnaires were actually issued,and 778 valid questionnaires were recovered.Among 778 elderly primiparas,the score of C-PDSS was(58.08±13.61)points,and the total C-PDSS score was≥76 points in 89 elderly primipara,and the incidence of postpartum depression was 11.44%.The scores of efficacy,satisfaction,and C-PSOC total score in depression group were lower than those in non-depression group(P<0.05).The scores of each factor and C-PDSS total score in elderly primiparas were negatively correlated with the scores of each subscale and C-PSOC total score(r<0,P<0.05).Conclusion The situation of postpartum depression in elderly primipara is more serious.According to the personal situation and specific needs of elderly primiparas,personalized postpartum services can be provided to prevent postpartum depression.
