Predictive value of physical examination on the risk of carotid arterioscle-rosis
Objective To investigate the value of physical examination indicators such as gender, age, blood pressure, and blood lipids in the risk assessment of carotid arteriosclerosis(CAS).Methods A random sample of 384 healthy individuals who underwent physical examinations at the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University from January 2022 to January 2023 was selected.Based on carotid artery ultrasound results, participants were divided into arteriosclerosis group(283 cases)and control group(101 cases).Data from the enrolled participants were collected, and the influencing factors of CAS occurrence were analyzed.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was employed to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of physical examination indicators for CAS.Results There were statistically significant differences in age, percentage of males, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, percentage of patients with hypertension, body mass index(BMI),total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C),fasting blood glucose(FBG),and blood uric acid(URIC)between two groups(P<0.05).Univariate regression analysis showed that age, males, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure,BMI,TC,TG,LDL-C,FBG,and URIC were all risk factors for CAS(P<0.05).Multivariate regression analysis showed that age, systolic blood pressure,LDL-C,FBG,and URIC were independent risk factors of CAS(OR=2.415,3.409,3.027,1.759,1.287,P<0.05).The areas under the ROC curve of the combined diagnosis of age, systolic blood pressure,LDL-C,FBG,and URIC in CAS were higher than those individual tests(P<0.05).Conclusion Age,systolicblood pressure,LDL-C,FBG,and URIC are closely associated with CAS occurrence, and combined detection demonstrates better diagnostic efficiency for CAS.
