Effect of miao medicine crossbow medicine external medicinal liquid application moxibustion in the treatment of early and middle stage knee osteoarthritis
Objective To observe the clinical effect of miao medicine crossbow medicine external medicinal liquid application moxibustion in the treatment of early and middle stage knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods A total of 64 patients with early and middle stage KOA in the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,Orthopedic Outpatient and Department of Inpatient,the First Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2022 to April 2023 were selected as the study objects,and they were divided into the treatment group and the control group by random number table method,with 32 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional moxibustion,and the treatment group was treated with miao medicine crossbow medicine external medicinal liquid application moxibustion.The course of treatment in both groups was four weeks.The score of Western Ontario and McMaster University(WOMAC)osteoarthritis index scale,visual analogue scale(V AS)score,serum levels of inflammatory factors(interleukin[IL]-1β,tumor necrosis factor-α[TNF-α],IL-6),levels of pain mediators(prostaglandin E2[PGE2],substance P[SP])before and after treatment were observed in two groups and the clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.Results During the study,two cases fell off in both groups.After treatment,the total score of WOMAC and VAS score in both groups were lower than before treatment,and those in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the serum IL-1 β level of the two groups was decreased compared with that before treatment(P＜0.05),There was no significant difference in serum IL-1β between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the serum IL-6 level in the treatment group was lower than that before treatment,and that in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in TNF-α level between the two groups before and after treatment(P＞0.05).After treatment,serum PGE2 and SP levels in two groups were lower than before treatment,and those in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The clinical effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Miao medicine crossbow medicine external medicinal liquid application moxibustion can improve knee joint function,relieve knee joint pain in early and middle stage KOA patients,and reduce the level of serum inflammatory factor IL-6 and pain mediators,which is better than conventional moxibustion.
