Effect of swallowing function training on swallowing function of patients with esophageal cancer after operation under the theory of healthy action process orientation
Objective To explore the effect of swallowing function training on swallowing function of patients with esophageal cancer after operation under the theory of healthy action process orientation. Methods A total of 120 patients with esophageal cancer treated by cardiothoracic surgery in the Affiliated Huaian No.1 Hospital of Nanjing Medical University,Jiangsu Province from April 2019 to April 2022 were selected, they were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. The control group received routine swallowing care, and the observation group received the swallowing function training guided by theory of health action process orientation on the basis of the control group. The scores of strategies used by people to promote health, standardized swallowing assessment(SSA),and swallowing quality of life questionnaire were compared between the two groups before and after two weeks of intervention. Results After intervention, the scores of positive attitude,self-stress reduction, and self-decision making in two groups were higher than those before intervention, and those in observation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).SSA scores in both groups were lower than those before intervention, and those in observation group was lower than those in control group(P<0.05).The eating time, swallowing burden, and swallowing symptom score of the two groups were higher than those before intervention, and those in observation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The swallowing function training guided by the theory of healthy action process orientation is helpful to improve the self-management efficiency, improve the swallowing disorder and improve the quality of life of patients after esophageal cancer operation.
