Research progress on the mechanism of ferroptosis and its effect on diabetic nephropathy
Ferroptosis is a type of cell death characterized by intracellular iron-dependent oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, with redox imbalance as the main feature.Iron deposition are found in the kidney tissue of diabetic mellitus patients, and in vivo and in vitro experiments, the use of ferroptosis inhibitors or activators modulates disease progression.Oxidative stress and abnormal lipid metabolism are very important in diabetes mellitus and its complications. Therefore, this article reviews the research progress on the mechanism of ferroptosis, key signaling pathways and diabetic nephropathy, providing new ideas for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
