Investigation on the current situation of public cardiopulmonary resuscita-tion techniques in Wuhan after the promulgation of"Good Man Clause"
Objective To understand the current situation of public cognition, rescue intention, and training of cardiopulmonary resuscitation after the promulgation of the"Good Man Clause"in Wuhan. Methods In October 2022,1 000 residents from 53 communities in Wuhan were selected as the research objects by convenient sampling method.Questionnaires were collected by"Questionnaire Star"to investigate basic information, the knowledge of"Good Man Clause",the current situation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation technology cognition and training, rescue willingness and reasons. Results A total of 1 000 questionnaires were issued,116 were discarded due to abandonment or regular filling, and a total of 884 were recovered.Among the 884 Wuhan public,242 persons(27.38%)were aware of the"Good Man Clause",and 200 persons(22.62%)had participated in cardiopulmonary resuscitation technology training. The exact knowledge of operation sequence of cardiopulmonary resuscitation accounted for the highest proportion(172 persons,19.46%),and the exact knowledge of interrupted duration of chest compressions during artificial respiration ac-counted for the lowest proportion(66 persons,7.47%).There was statistical significance in the knowledge of relevant knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation among different age, education, and occupation groups(P<0.05).A total of 592 persons(66.97%)were willing to help, but the reasons for not wanting to help included"old people"(158 times,6.76%),"falling down due to sudden illness"(132 times,11.30%),"fear of disputes"(174 times,9.93%),and so on.The public who knew the"Good Man Clause"and participated in the training had a higher willingness to rescue, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Public awareness of"Good Man Clause"and cardiopulmonary resuscitation technology in Wuhan is not ideal, and the training level is not enough, but the willingness to rescue is high.More publicity should be given to"Good Man Clause"and a perfect cardiopulmonary resuscitation training system should be established to eliminate public concerns and enhance confi-dence in rescue.
