Effect analysis of oral irrigation with traditional Chinese medicine on pre-vention of ventilator-associated pneumonia in patients with mechanical ventilation in intensive care unit
Objective To analyze the effect of oral irrigation with traditional Chinese medicine on prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia in patients with mechanical ventilation in intensive care unit(ICU).Methods A total of 160 patients with mechanical ventilation in ICU admitted to Wenzhou Central Hospital in Zhejiang Province from July 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the study objects, they were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 80 cases in each group. The control group was given supracapsular drainage, and the observation group was given oral irrigation with traditional Chinese medicine combined with supracapsular drainage. Both groups were treated for one week. The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, blood gas index(arterial oxygen saturation[SaO 2],arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide[PaCO2],arterial partial oxygen pressure[PaO2],and pH value),and lactic acid level were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results The total incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in observation group was lower than that in control group(P<0.05).After intervention, the levels of SaO2,PaO2,and pH in the two groups were higher than those before intervention, and the level of PaCO2 was lower than that before intervention, and the level of SaO2,PaO2 and pH value in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the level of PaCO2 was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).After intervention, the lactate level in both groups was lower than that before intervention, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The incidence of ventila-tor-associated pneumonia is decreased and blood gas index is improved in ICU mechanical ventilation patients after oral irrigation with traditional Chinese medicine.
