Effects of empowerment theory guidance on psychological stress and mar-ital quality of patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer
Objective To explore the effects of empowerment theory guidance on psychological stress and marital quality of patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer.Methods A total of 81 patients with breast cancer after surgery treated in Lishui Central Hospital,Zhejiang Province from February 2021 to June 2022 were selected,the patients were divided into routine group(41 cases,routine nursing intervention)and empowerment group(40 cases,empowered theory guidance on the basis of control)using random number table method.The intervention lasted for two months.The psychological stress,self-efficacy,and marital quality were compared between the two groups.Results After intervention,the scores of self-rating depression scale and self-rating anxiety scale in both groups were lower than those before intervention,and those of the em-powerment group were lower than those of the routine group(P<0.05).The scores of feeling of inadequacy scale,general self-efficacy scale,and Olson marital quality questionnaire in both groups were higher than those before intervention,and those of the empowerment group were higher than those of the routine group(P<0.05).Conclusion From the perspective of empowerment theory,it can significantly improve the psychological stress,enhance self-esteem,self-efficacy,and marital life quality of patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer.
