Epidemiological sampling survey of cervical spondylosis related symptoms in children and adolescents aged 3-18 years in Harbin
Objective To investigate epidemiological characteristics of cervical spondylosis related symptoms in children and adolescents aged 3-18 years in Harbin. Methods A total of 4 896 children and adolescents aged 3-18 years in Harbin from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as research subjects by using stratified cluster random sampling method. They were divided into 3-6 years old group,>6-9 years old group,>9-12 years old group,>12-15 years old group,and>15-18 years old group according to different age stages.Cervical spine abnormali-ties,detection rate of cervical spondylosis related symptoms, cervical spondylosis related symptom scores, and lifestyle habits among different age groups were compared.Correlation between symptom scores related to cervical spondylosis and lifestyle habits were analyzed. Results Total detec-tion rate of cervical spine abnormalities in children and adolescents was 22.90%(1 121/4 896),with highest detection rate being paraspinal tender-ness,accounting for 10.52%(515/4 896).There were statistically significant differences in detection rates of paraspinal tenderness, spinous process deviation, abnormal cervical curvature, and total abnormal detection rates among different age groups(P<0.005).There were statistically significant differences in detection rates of headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, and arm numbness among different age groups(P<0.005).There were statisti-cally significant differences in scores of headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, and arm numbness among different age groups(P<0.005).There were statistically significant differences in physical exercise time, sedentary time, and electronic device usage time among different age groups(P<0.005).Pearson correlation analysis showed that headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, and arm numbness scores were negatively correlated with physical exercise time(r=-0.280,-0.261,-0.228,-0.213,P<0.05),and positively correlated with sedentary time and electronic device usage time(r=0.352/0.413,0.317/0.376,0.295/0.354,0.272/0.325,P<0.05).Conclusion There are significant differences in detection rate of cervical spondylosis and related symptoms, cervical spondylosis related symptom scores, and lifestyle habits of children and adolescents in Harbin among different age groups. And lifestyle habits are closely related to severity of cervical spondylosis related symptoms.
