Effect of mirror-therapy combined with traditional rehabilitation training on peripheral facial paralysis patients
Objective To explore the effect of mirror-therapy(MT)combined with traditional rehabilitation training on peripheral facial paralysis patients. Methods A total of 92 patients with peripheral facial palsy who received treatment at Jinhua Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Zhejiang Province from January 2021 to December 2022 were divided into two groups according to the non-concurrent cohort study method.Among them,46 patients who received treatment from January to December 2021 were the control group, and 46 patients who received treatment from Jan-uary to December 2022 were the observation group. The control group received facial massage, relaxation exercise, language communication ability training, and other traditional rehabilitation training, twice a week for about 45 minutes each time. The observation group increased MT once a week on the basis of the control group, and the main training movements included sucking, raising eyebrows, and some emotional expressions. After eight weeks of treatment, the clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.Complex muscle action potential(CMAP)amplitude, latency, facial dis-ability index physical function(FDIP)and facial disability index social life function(FDIS)scores, facial nerve function scale scores were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results The clinical efficacy of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no significant difference in latency and amplitude between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the incubation period of the two groups was shorter than before intervention, and the amplitude was larger than before intervention, and the incubation period of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group, and the amplitude was larger than the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no significant difference in facial nerve function scale scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, facial nerve function scale scores of the two groups were lower than before intervention, and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with traditional rehabilitation training alone,MT combined with traditional rehabilitation therapy can better improve the electromyography results and facial nerve function of patients with peripheral facial paralysis, and has better clinical efficacy, which is worthy of clinical application.
