Effects of midwife led psychological intervention counseling on the fear of childbirth and self-efficacy of primiparous women
Objective To investigate the effects of midwife led psychological intervention counseling on the fear of childbirth and self-efficacy of primiparous women.Methods A total of 104 primiparous women who delivered at the Affiliated Huaian No.1 People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from May 2022 to August 2023 were selected,and they were divided into control group and intervention group by random number table method,with 52 primiparous women in each group.The control group received routine psychological intervention counseling,while the intervention group received midwife led psychological intervention counseling.The levels of fear of childbirth,self-efficacy,and adverse childbirth outcomes were compared between the two groups.Results During delivery,the scores of the fear of childbirth scale in the two group were lower than those when enrdled,and the intervention group was lower than the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At the time of discharge,the childbirth self-efficacy scale score of the intervention group was higher than that when enrolled,and the intervention group was higher than the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse delivery outcomes in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Midwife led psychological inter-vention counseling for primiparous women can reduce fear of childbirth,enhance self-efficacy,and improve childbirth outcomes.
