Application of modular nursing for preventing hypothermia in elderly pa-tients undergoing prostate surgery
Objective To explore application effect of modular nursing for preventing hypothermia in elderly patients undergoing prostate surgery. Methods A total of 130 elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia admitted to Huaian First Hospital Affiliated with Nanjing Medical Uni-versity from February to December 2023 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group by using random number table method, with 65 cases in each group. The control group received routine insulation care, while the observation group received modular nursing for preventing hypothermia in addition to the control group.Body temperature of the two groups in operating room(T1),half an hour after anesthesia(T2),one hour after anesthesia(T3)and at the end of surgery(T4)were compared.Intraoperative shivering, bladder spasms, hypothermia and patient satis-faction of the two groups were statistically analyzed.Sleep quality and comfort before and after nursing between the two groups were compared.Re-sults Overall analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences on body temperature in intergroup comparison, time point compari-son and interaction between the two groups(P<0.05).Intragroup comparison:body temperature in two groups at T2,T3 and T4 were lower than at T1,body temperature in the two groups at T3 and T4 were lower than at T2,body temperature in the two groups at T4 was lower than at T3,and the differ-ences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Intergroup comparison:body temperature of the observation group at T 1,T2,T3 and T4 were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Intraoperative shivering in the observation group was milder than that in the control group, and incidence rate of bladder spasms and hypothermia in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After nursing,Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)scores in the two groups were lower than before nursing,Kolcaba comfort questionnaire(GCQ)scores in the two groups were higher than before nursing,PSQI score in the obser-vation group was lower than that in the control group,GCQ score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the differ-ences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Satisfaction of patients in the observation group was better than that in the control group, and the dif-ference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Application of modular nursing for preventing hypothermia in elderly patients with be-nign prostatic hyperplasia can effectively reduce risk of intraoperative shivering, bladder spasms and hypothermia, improve sleep quality, comfort and satisfaction of patient.
