Research progress of Chinese medicine monomers modulating PI3K/Akt signaling pathway to intervene in rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by peripheral joint inflammation and tissue hyperplasia.Cur-rent treatments rely on anti-inflammatory,analgesic and immunosuppressive drugs but face challenges with recurrence and adverse drug reactions.Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/Akt)signaling pathway plays a crucial role in RA,involved in cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, and inflammation, emerging as a novel therapeutic target.Traditional Chinese medicine has shown efficacy in treating RA,with in-creasing research on Chinese herbal monomers modulating PI3K/Akt pathway.Studies on Chinese herbal monomers like celastrol and sinomenine affecting this pathway reveal potential for multiple therapies for RA in inhibiting bone destruction, promoting joint protection, immune suppression,anti-inflammation,anti-angiogenesis,and reducing drug resistance. These advancements provide a solid scientific basis for traditional Chinese medicine treatment of RA and open new directions for its clinical application.
