Research progress on interleukin-17 of important therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases
Interleukin(IL)-17 is mainly derived from helper T cell 17.IL-17 family contains six members, namely IL-17A,IL-17B,IL-17C,IL-17D,IL-17E,and IL-17F.As an important proinflammatory cytokine,IL-17 is widely expressed in the body and is regulated by IL-17 receptor.IL-17 receptor plays a key role in the pathogenesis of a variety of autoimmune diseases, especially after specific binding to IL-17.This article reviews IL-17 cytokine family and its receptors,IL-17-mediated signaling pathways, and research progress of IL-17 in various autoimmune diseases.Further exploration helps to gain a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the role of IL-17 in immune regulation.Reviewing current research can better grasp the importance of IL-17 in autoimmune diseases and provide useful insights for future research in related fields.
