Research progress of biomimetic nanomedicine in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a systemic autoimmune disease that severely impacts patients'quality of life.Although nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs can alleviate RA symptoms, they are accompanied by significant side effects and have limited efficacy.Biomimetic nanomedicine enhances drug biocompatibility and targeting by mimicking natural structures and functions in the body, reducing immunogenicity and side effects, and demonstrating enormous therapeutic potential. These nanomedicines can regulate immune cell function, control the release of inflammatory mediators, and target the delivery of anti-inflammatory factors, effectively reducing RA symptoms and preventing joint damage.Despite facing challenges such as long-term safety, production complexity and individual differences, biomimetic nanomedicine still has broad prospects in RA treatment.Optimizing design and manufacturing processes, studying metabolic behavior, and long-term safety, and developing personalized treatment strategies will further promote their clinical application and provide patients with safer and more effective treatment plans.
