Analysis on the change of medical and health service capacity and intra-city hospitalization rate in Guangdong Province from 2018 to 2022
Objective To analyze the change of medical and health service capacity and intra-city hospitalization rate in Guangdong Province from 2018 to 2022,and to provide suggestions on enhancing intra-city hospitalisation rate.Methods The data from Guangdong Province Medical and Health Yearbook,official website of Guangdong Province Health and Health Commission,and official website of Guangdong Province Health and Health Commission Affairs Center from 2018 to 2022.Intra-city hospitalization rate,health technicians(the number of physicians per 1 000 population,the number of nurses per 1 000 population),healthcare facilities(the number of beds per 1 000 population,the number of healthcare institutions,and the number of equipment over 10 000 yuan per 1 000 population),efficiency of healthcare services(bed occupancy rate,average hospitalization day),and the volume of healthcare services(the number of consultations,the number of hospital discharges).Results The number of physicians per 1 000 population in Guangdong Province were 2.65 people and the number of nurses per 1 000 population were 3.32 people in 2022,an increase of 0.21 and 0.37 people from 2018,respectively.The number of beds per 1 000 population in Guangdong Province were 4.81 beds,the number of healthcare institutions were 59 531 institutions,and the number of equipments over 10 000 yuan per 1 000 population were 8.85 equipments in 2022,an increase of 0.25 beds,8 004 institutions,and 2.93 equipments from 2018,respectively.In 2022,the bed occupancy rate in Guangdong Province was 72.2％and the average hospitalization days were 8.3 d,a decrease of 10.8％and a shortening of 0.6 d from 2018,respectively.The total number of consultations in Guangdong Province were 804 169 ten thousand people and the number of hospital discharges were 1 752.6 ten thousand people in 2022,a decrease of 4 057.5 ten thousand people and an increase of 43.8 ten thousand people from 2018,respectively.The overall intra-city hospitalization rate in Guangdong Province increased from 94.9％in 2018 to 95.1％in 2022.Conclusion It should pay attention to the municipalities where the hospitalization rate is relatively low or continues to decline,and targeting the strengthen the medical and health services capacity.
