Cheng Liangbin's clinical experience in the treatment of pruritus associ-ated with cholestatic liver disease
Modern medicine is becoming more and more mature in the diagnosis and treatment of cholestatic liver disease, but its complication, pruritus associated with cholestatic liver disease,is still being explored, and due to the lack of specific drug treatment, clinical results of pruritus associated with cholestatic liver disease are not good.Professor Cheng Liangbin has long been engaged in the treatment of liver disease by combining traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, and summarizes his experience in the treatment of the disease. He believes that the causes of pruritus associated with cholestatic liver disease include blood-heat generating wind, dampness and heat fighting, blood deficiency and wind-dryness,blood stasis blocking collaterals, and that the main mechanism of the disease is the loss of harmony between qi and blood and the generating of wind and dryness. In the treatment,Professor Cheng adopts both internal and external treatments. The internal treatment advocates staged treatment and emphasizes the importance of resolving blood stasis and dispelling wind;at the same time,he makes good use of the method of relieving depression and tranquilizing spirit to improve the patient's anxiety, insomnia and other psychiatric problems due to itchiness. The external treatment is to use traditional Chinese medicine fumigation, according to different symptoms and signs of itching to select prescription, and achieves better clinical efficacy.
