Statistics and analysis on project funding of National Natural Science Foundation of China in a university during 2018-2022
Objective To explore the application and acquisition of National Natural Science Foundation of China in Xinjiang Medical University from 2018 to 2022,provide a reasonable basis for effectively promoting scientific research management.Methods Data of the application and acquisition of funded projects in Xinjiang Medical University from January 2018 to January 2023 were retrieved by using National Natural Science Foundation of China network information system.Statistical data on projects funded of National Natural Science Foundation of China were queried,and relevant data on applications and grants received nationwide from 2018 to 2022 were collected.The research period was from May to June 2023.The application and funding situation,funding category,discipline distribution,medical science department,age distribution of responsible persons of National Natural Science Foundation of China were analyzed.Results Xinjiang Medical University applied for 2 647 National Natural Science Foundation of China from 2018 to 2022,of which 313 were approved,with a funding rate of 11.82％;from 2018 to 2022,a total of 1 293 060 applications were submitted to the National Natural Science Foundation of China,and 209 486 were approved,with a funding rate of 16.20％.Xinjiang Medical University was approved by the National Natural Science Fund involving a total of six types of projects,mainly regional science fund projects,accounting for 89.46％;covered six departments,mainly medical science department,accounting for 91.05％;and the highest proportion was 40-45 years old(23.96％),the average age of project leaders was(43.06±1.34)years old.Conclusion Although the number of applications for the National Natural Science Foundation of China of Xinjiang Medical University has increased from 2018 to 2022,the overall trend of funding and funding rate has slightly ecreased,and the types of funding received are mainly regional science fund projects.The funding rate for characteristic research fields at Xinjiang Medical University is relatively high.In the future,efforts should be made to strengthen the training of research teams,improve the quality of application forms,and strive to increase the funding rate.
