Research progress on application of pulse wave in the diagnosis and treat-ment of hypertension in traditional Chinese and western medicine
Hypertension is one of the major chronic cardiovascular diseases in China.Long term high blood pressure can easily lead to damage to various tissues and organs such as heart, brain, kidney, and blood vessels, causing a series of serious complications and affecting quality of life of patients.Early diagnosis and differentiation are crucial for guiding treatment.Pulse wave is a waveform formed by compression of blood vessel walls caused by periodic contraction and relaxation of heart, resulting in periodic oscillation of blood vessels and propagation to periphery. The speed at which it propagates forward is called pulse wave conduction velocity.Pulse wave velocity, due to its significant advantages such as accuracy, sensitivity, ease of operation, non invasiveness and strong repeatability, has shown great potential for early detection and prevention of hypertension. This article elaborates on the principle of pulse waves and focuses on exploring their applications in non-invasive blood pressure measurement, hypertension incidence prediction, vascular elasticity evaluation, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome types of hypertension, and pulse detection,as well as the efficacy evaluation of traditional Chinese and western medicine in treating hypertension. The aim is to explore the important auxiliary role that pulse waves can play and provide new ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
