A comparative study on the publication of management papers in top three public hospitals based on bibliometric methods
Objective To compare the publication status of hospital management papers based on bibliometric methods be-tween Beijing Friendship Hospital,Capital Medical University and Peking Union Medical College Hospital,Chinese Acade-my of Medical Sciences.Methods China national knowledge infrastructure as data source,hospital management papers published by two hospital employees as first authors from January 2013 to December 2023 were searched.Excel and CiteS-pace software were used to analyze and visualize basic information,authors and keywords,and scientific knowledge graph was drawed.Results Two hospitals included 3 192 papers,which were published in 378 journals.A total of 47%of papers from Peking Union Medical College Hospital,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences had received funding support,and 43%of papers from Beijing Friendship Hospital,Capital Medical University had received funding support.Peking Union Medical College Hospital,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences had formed 17 main author groups,18 keyword clusters,and 12 prominent words.Beijing Friendship Hospital,Capital Medical University had formed 1 1 main author groups,12 key-word clusters,and 11 emergent words.Both hospitals had high-frequency keywords related to standardized training,ques-tionnaire surveys and resident physicians.Since 2013,teaching management had always been the biggest research hotspot at Beijing Friendship Hospital,Capital Medical University.Dur-ing the same period,Peking Union Medical College Hospital,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences formed research hotspots in teaching management,medical quality,and patient safety management.Conclusion Bibliometric methods used to ana-lyze publication of hospital management papers and conducting comparative studies with industry benchmarking hospitals can help hospitals understand their own development status in hospital management disciplines,which is important for promoting high-quality research and practice in hospital management as well as publishing high-level hospital management papers.It also provides an important reference for horizontal comparisons between different hospital management disciplines.
