Under the background of the new era,English talents should not only have skilled language application ability,but also have cultural consciousness and correct values.Therefore,the cultivation of students'language,pragmatic ability and cultural literacy should be placed in an important position in College English teaching.In integrating English literature,authentic English expression can improve students'ability of listening,speaking,reading and writing,and the deep reading of English and American literature also leads students into the palace of literature.The humanistic feelings and emotional values in the works can let students feel the cultural influence,improve their cultural accomplishment and choose correct and reasonable values,thus shaping their own values.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to explore the value and application path of English and American literature in College English teaching.
