The Hawaiian ukulele was introduced to China by the Chinese in the 1920s.In the 1930s and 1940s,along with the popularity of Hawaiian music and the hula dance,the ukulele became a popular instrument,its"footprints"spread across half of China,creating a"mini-boom"with numerous ukulele players and perform-ance groups emerging during this period.After 1949,it gradually declined and had virtually disappeared in Chi-na by the early 1990s.
